The doors
So one of the first things I rigged were the doors (or at least I think I did them first.) I did have to change the pivot point as the SLR has gull wing doors so I moved the point to the top of the door so when it rotated it looked fairly accurate. I then made an arrow using the CV curve tool to use as the controller. Then selecting both the door group and the arrow I added a Orient constraint and constrained it to the Z axis so the door can only move up and down.
I the added rotation limits so that the door wouldn't be able to do a full 360 no matter how much I rotate the controller

So rigging is strange. It is very hard to get to grips with however you do get to grips with it, a lot like UVing, it takes a lot of patience and problem solving. As this blog has been written after I've finished rigging I have good old hind sight and using hind sight I can see that rigging just needs a lot of practice and problem solving skills for when things inevitability go wrong.
